The Gambia does not have any trains or internal flights within the country. It is important you are aware of your route and mode of transport prior to your visit.  The city does not have a public bus service. You may wish to use the local Gele Gele service which is a private van-based transport in the city. However, please be mindful that the drivers will not understand sign or English.

We would suggest that you book hotels within walking distance from the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center. Most of the activities will be in or around the centre itself and you will not need to travel far for any social events. The local area is a tourist destination and you will find all the amenities in the area without the need for transport. The conference centre is only 10 minutes away from the airport.

Parking is available at the conference center. Please notify the conference facilitators prior to your arrival should you wish to use the carpark.

We highly recommend that you are fully vaccinated against Covid 19 prior to your arrival to The Gambia. 

Most visits to The Gambia are trouble-free, although independent travellers are at increased risk due to the lack of local support in an emergency. If you’re travelling independently, make sure next of kin in the UK have details of your itinerary and keep in regular touch. Take out travel and medical insurance before you travel.
